About Dr.Tariq IsmaiL

Dr. Tariq Ismail is the father of Raysan Ismail. One of the four founders of the Department of Musical Arts, Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Baghdad. He worked as a pedagogical teacher of music at Yarmouk University for 16 years and at the National Institute of Music for 7 years in Jordan. He founded the Arabic Band at the School of Music and Ballet - Baghdad, which was the first nucleus of the Bayariq Band later

Introduction

The talk goes on for the Iraqi musicians who have left their silence on the Iraqi, Arab and international music scene for their artistic, scientific and cultural output. They are the names of Iraq in various Arab and international forums. Dr. Tariq Ismail is one of the most prominent academic musicians in contemporary Iraq. The highest academic degrees in the field of specialization in the country at that time, a doctorate in music, and this certificate was able to obtain only a small number of Iraqi musicians, relying on his talents and self-abilities in achieving the status of academic knowledge as a university professor. As well as his outstanding style of playing violin in both Arabic (Eastern) and European (Western) music, he is one of the best violinists in Iraq and the Arab world. He has many participations in various festivals and events inside and outside the country, He was able to spread the culture and the music education through his leadership, training and establishment of musical groups in Iraqi and Arab schools, institutes and colleges, and teaching the violin for decades to hundreds of students in Iraq and abroad. He also has many Oriental musical compositions Such as music pieces, Samais, longas and songs.

Birth and education

Dr. Tariq Ismail Abdul Ghani Al-Obeidi was born in the city of Mosul, the center of Nineveh Province, in 1934. He moved to Baghdad in 1953 and entered the Institute of Fine Arts in 1954, to study the violin with the music department, receiving a teacher’s certificate of music in 1957.  After graduating, Dr. Tariq, received his first position as a teacher at the Mamounieh School in Baghdad in 1957.  While at the school, he performed for King Faisal II and trained the Oriental National Group that belonged to the Ministry of Culture – Baghdad

The journey of knowledge outside the country

After working in the field of music education and the establishment of musical groups, Tariq Ismail was granted a scholarship MofE Iraqi in 1961, to complete his higher studies abroad and obtain his certificate in violin, specialization at the Music Conservatory in Prague, Czechoslovakia (currently the Czech Republic) in 1965. Afterwards he continued his musical studies to obtain the Academy of Musical Arts diploma from the University of Charles in Prague, Czechoslovakia. During his studies, he participated performing in several concerts, as a violinist accompanied by the piano in a number of musical at Rudolfinum Concert Hall in the capital Prague

Dr. Tariq Ismail returned to Baghdad to work and serve the Iraqi music scene and transfer the knowledge and experiences he learned to his country's sons and daughters. The years 1970-1975 were full of creativity, brilliance, and outstanding work. In teaching, he taught violin in both Middle Eastern and Western styles in the Institute of Fine Arts were he first studied in Baghdad, the School of Music and Ballet and the Institute of Tonality Studies which is part of the Department of Musical Arts at the Ministry of Culture in Baghdad. In addition, he served as a first player of the second violin in the Iraqi National Symphony Orchestra. He also served as a trainer and leader of the Iraqi Muwashahat band and with the radio and television house band of Iraq, as a violin soloist for the band.  He also performed as a violinist and trainer of the Iraqi Oriental Quartet Composed of Violin, Viola, Cello, and Qanoon

His achievements at the academic level

After years of work and perseverance, he did not stop his scientific career and ambition to complete his higher education. In 1976 he traveled abroad again to obtain a doctorate in music from the Faculty of Music - University of Charles, Prague, Czechoslovakia in 1980. Then returned to Baghdad to be appointed to teach at the College of Fine Arts - University of Baghdad, and obtaining the (teacher) title in 1981

In 1982, Dr. Tariq Ismail founded a new Arabic musical ensemble at the School of Music and Ballet that belonged to the Department of Musical Arts at the Ministry of Culture and Media at that time

The most notable of these achievements

The bright point in the life of Dr. Tariq Ismail was the establishment of the most important musical monument in the contemporary Iraq, the Department of Musical Arts in the College of Fine Arts at the University of Baghdad in 1987-1988, with the participation of colleagues Dr. Khaled Ibrahim Abdullah, and Dr. Tariq Hassoun Farid. He continued to teach various theoretical, practical and applied subjects, like (hearing and sound education), (laboratory applications), (violin and singing) lessons until his retirement in 1991

In 1986, the Strings Quartet Group was formed, consisting of a number of leading Iraqi musicians; Dr. Tariq Ismail, violinist and band trainer, as well as the artist Salem Hussein on the Qanoon instrument, the artist Ali Alimam on the Oud instrument, And the great musician Fouad Othman on the Cello instrument, where the band continued to host many concerts on the most important halls and theaters of Baghdad until he traveled outside Iraq

Dr. Tariq Ismail retired from Baghdad University in the summer of 1991 at his request because of the harsh conditions that the country was going through during that period of an economical siege, after receiving his title as an assistant professor

Work and creativity outside the homeland

In 1991, he traveled again outside Iraq to complete his artistic and academic career in teaching. At the beginning of the new academic year, he served as assistant professor in the Department of Musical Arts - Faculty of Fine Arts, Yarmouk University in Jordan. Where he taught violin playing as well as teaching other musical theory materials

Dr. Tariq Ismail led and trained the (Yarmouk University Group for singing and music) which participated in many national festivals and events in Jordan. He also founded the (Yarmouk quartet group for Arabic Music) composed of Violin, Qanoon, First Oud, Second Oud. The group performed many concerts in and outside Yarmouk University in 1995. One of these concerts was held at the Royal Cultural Theater in Amman, Jordan

In 2007, Dr. Tariq Ismail moved to work as a violin teacher at the National Music Institute in Amman, Jordan, and continued his work until 2011

During the course of his artistic and academic life, Professor Tariq Ismail received many awards and certificates of appreciation and thanks inside and outside of the country, including (34) letters of thanks and appreciations from many official authorities in Iraq in the fields of playing, teaching, leading and training of music groups in appreciation of his musical potential and activity In addition to (21) letters from Yarmouk University in appreciation of his artistic and career activities

His research contributions

In the field of scientific research and participation in scientific conferences as an academic researcher, he has published many researches, including a study entitled (The Iraqi song between tradition and modernity) presented to the sixth scientific conference of the Faculty of Music Education at Helwan University in Cairo, 18-20/10/2000, and published on page 1556 of volume II of the conference magazine. From his published researches also (The Modern Iraqi School of the Oud Instrument), published in the Yarmouk Research Journal (Series of Human and Social Sciences), Volume 21, No. 2, Irbid - Jordan in 2005

بطاقة تعريف

الحديث يطول عن موسيقيي العراق الذين تركوا بصمتهم على ساحة الموسيقا العراقية والعربية والعالمية، لما قدموه من نتاج فني وعلمي وثقافي ليرفعوا بها اسم العراق في مختلف المحافل العربية والدولية، ويعد الاستاذ الدكتور طارق اسماعيل احد أبرز هؤلاء الموسيقيين الاكاديميين في العراق المعاصر، ومن القلائل الذين حصلوا على أعلى الشهادات الاكاديمية في مجال تخصصه في القطر، وهي شهادة الدكتوراة في العلوم الموسيقية، وهذه الشهادة العليا لم يتمكن من الحصول عليها الا عدد قليل من موسيقيي العراق، معتمداً على مواهبه وقدراته الذاتية في تحقيق ما يصبوا اليه من مكانة علمية واكاديمية كاستاذ جامعي، فضلاً عن أسلوبه المتميز في العزف على آلة الكمان في كلتا الطريقتين العربية (الشرقية) والاوروبية (الغربية)، إذ يعد من أفضل العازفين على آلة الكمان في العراق والوطن العربي، وله مشاركات عديدة في مختلف المهرجانات والمناسبات داخل وخارج القطر، تمكن من نشر الثقافة والعلوم الموسيقية من خلال قيادته وتدريبه وتأسيسه للفرق الموسيقية في المدارس والمعاهد والكليات الموسيقية العراقية والعربية، وتدريسه العزف على آلة الكمان لطلبته الذين يعدون بالمئات في داخل العراق وخارجه.كما له العديد من المؤلفات الموسيقية العربية والشرقية المتميزة؛ كالمقطوعات الموسيقية، والسماعيات، واللونكات، والاغاني، وغيرها من الاعمال الموسيقية والغنائية.

ولادته وتعليمه

ولد الدكتور طارق اسماعيل عبد الغني العبيدي في مدينة الموصل مركز محافظة نينوى، في عام 1934م. وهناك تلقى أول تعليمه، ثم انتقل عام 1953م للسكن في بغداد، و في عام 1954م دخل قسم الموسيقا - فرع آلة الكمان في معهد الفنون الجميلة لاعداد المعلمين التابع لوزارة التربية وتخرج منه عام 1957م. حصل على شهادة الدبلوم في الموسيقا بعد مدة دراسة في المعهد استغرقت ثلاث سنوات. ثم عين معلماً في مدرسة المأمونية ببغداد في عام 1957، واستمر في عمله كمعلم موسيقي لغاية عام 1960م، وقام بتأسيس الفرقة الموسيقية التابعة لوزارة التربية - بغداد لغاية عام1961م. كما قام بتدريب الفرقة الشرقية الوطنية التابعة لوزارة الثقافة - بغداد عام 1958م

رحلة العلم والمعرفة خارج القطر

بعد العمل في مجال التعليم الموسيقي وتأسيس الفرق الموسيقية شد الاستاذ الدكتور طارق اسماعيل الرحال في عام 1961م، لتكملة دراسته العليا خارج القطر، للحصول على شهادة الكونسرفاتوار من معهد الموسيقا في مدينة براغ -چيكوسلوفاكيا آنذاك (حالياً جمهورية الچيك)، وذلك في تخصص العزف على آلة الكمان في عام 1965م. ثم استمر في دراسته الموسيقية ليحصل على شهادة (اكاديمية الفنون الموسيقية) التابعة لجامعة چارلس في مدينة براغ من چيكوسلوفاكيا في تخصص العزف على آلة الكمان للسنوات 1966-1970م. واثناء دراسته هناك اشترك في عدة حفلات موسيقية في العزف على آلة الكمان بمصاحبة آلة البيانو في عدد من القاعات الموسيقية في العاصمة براغ

عاد الاستاذ الدكتور طارق اسماعيل الى بغداد ليعمل في خدمة الموسيقا العراقية ونقل ما تعلمه من علوم وخبرات لابناء وطنه، فكانت السنوات 1970 – 1975م سنوات مليئة بالإبداع والتألق والعمل المتميز؛ فعلى صعيد التدريس، قام بتدريس العزف على آلة الكمان بنوعيها الشرقي (العربي) والغربي (الأوربي) في كل من معهد الفنون الجميلة في وزارة التربية، ومدرسة الموسيقا والباليه ومعهد الدراسات النغمية التابعة لدائرة الفنون الموسيقية في وزارة الثقافة والإعلام في بغداد. أما على صعيد العزف والقيادة الموسيقية فقد عمل قائداً لآلة الكمان الثاني في الفرقة السيمفونية الوطنية العراقية، كما عمل مدرباً وقائداً لفرقة الموشحات العراقية في دار الاذاعة والتلفزيون وعازف الصولو الاول فيها على آلة الكمان، فضلاً عن عمله كعازف على آلة الكمان ومدرباً لفرقة الرباعي الشرقي العراقي المؤلف من آلة الكمان، والفيولا، والجلو، والقانون

انجازاته على المستوى الأكاديمي

بعد سنوات من العمل والمثابرة لم يتوقف عن مسيرته العلمية وطموحه في تكملة دراسته العليا فسافر عام 1976م مرة أخرى الى خارج القطر للحصول على شهادة الدكتوراة في العلوم الموسيقية من كلية العلوم الموسيقية لجامعة چارلس في مدينة براغ چيكوسلوفاكيا عام 1980م. بعدها عاد الى بغداد ليتم تعيينه تدريسي في كلية الفنون الجميلة - جامعة بغداد، وحصوله على اللقب العلمي بعنوان (مدرّس) في عام 1981م

في عام 1982م قام الاستاذ الدكتور طارق اسماعيل بتأسيس فرقة موسيقية عربية تراثية جديدة في مدرسة الموسيقا والباليه التابعة الى دائرة الفنون الموسيقية في وزارة الثقافة والإعلام آنذاك.

أبرز هذه الأنجازات

النقطة المضيئة في حياة الاستاذ الدكتور طارق اسماعيل الفنية والاكاديمية كانت بتأسيس أهم صرح علمي موسيقي في العراق المعاصر وهو قسم الفنون الموسيقية التابع لكلية الفنون الجميلة في جامعة بغداد عام 1987-1988م، وذلك بمشاركة زملاءه الاستاذ الدكتور خالد ابراهيم عبد الله، والاستاذ الدكتور طارق حسون فريد. استمر بتدريس مختلف المواد الدراسية النظرية والعملية والتطبيقية، كمادة (تربية السمع والصوت)، ومادة (التطبيقات المختبرية)، ومادة (العزف والغناء المنفرد والجماعي) لغاية احالته على التقاعد في عام 1991م

في عام 1986م تم تأسيس فرقة (الرباعي الوتري) والتي تتألف من عدد من الاساتذة الرواد في مجال الموسيقا العراقية وهم كل من؛ الدكتور طارق اسماعيل على آلة الكمان ومدرب الفرقة، فضلاً عن الفنان سالم حسين على آلة القانون، والفنان علي الامام على آلة العود، والفنان فؤاد عثمان على آلة الفيولونسيل، حيث استمرت هذه الفرقة بتقديم العديد من الحفلات والكونسرتات الموسيقية على أهم وأبرز قاعات ومسارح بغداد لغاية سفره الى خارج العراق

احيل الاستاذ الدكتور طارق اسماعيل على التقاعد من الخدمة الجامعية في صيف عام 1991م وذلك بناءاً على طلبه، بسبب الظروف القاسية التي كان يمر بها القطر في تلك الفترة من حصار اقتصادي، بعد حصوله على لقب أستاذ مساعد

العمل والابداع خارج الوطن

في عام 1991م سافر مرة أخرى الى خارج العراق لتكملة مسيرته الفنية والاكاديمية في التدريس، ومع بداية العام الدراسي الجديد عمل أستاذاً مساعداً في قسم الفنون الموسيقية التابع لكلية الفنون الجميلة - جامعة اليرموك في الاردن. حيث قام بتدريس العزف على آلة الكمان فضلاً عن تدريسه لمواد نظرية موسيقية أخرى

تولى الاستاذ الدكتور طارق اسماعيل قيادة وتدريب (فرقة جامعة اليرموك للغناء والموسيقا) التي شاركت في العديد من المهرجانات والمناسبات الوطنية الاردنية. كما قام بتأسيس (فرقة رباعي اليرموك للموسيقى العربية) المؤلف من (آلة الكمان، قانون، عود أول، عود ثاني)، حيث قدم العديد من الحفلات الموسيقية داخل وخارج جامعة اليرموك في عام 1995م. احدى تلك الحفلات اقيمت على المسرح الثقافي الملكي في عمان، الأردن

في العام 2007م انتقل الاستاذ الدكتور طارق اسماعيل للعمل مدرساً لآلة الكمان في المعهد الوطني للموسيقى في العاصمة الاردنية عمان، واستمر في عمله هذا لغاية عام 2011م

خلال مسيرة حياته الفنية والاكاديمية حصل الاستاذ الدكتور طارق اسماعيل على العديد من الجوائز وشهادات التكريم وكتب الشكر والتقدير داخل وخارج القطر، من ضمنها (34) كتاب شكر وتقدير من العديد من الجهات الرسمية في العراق في مجالات العزف والتدريس وقيادة وتدريب الفرق الموسيقية تثميناً لإمكاناته الموسيقية ونشاطه الفني المستمر واخلاصه في العمل، فضلاً عن (21) كتاب شكر وتقدير من جامعة اليرموك تثميناً لنشاطه الفني والوظيفي

مشاركاته البحثية

أما في مجال البحث العلمي والمشاركة في المؤتمرات العلمية الموسيقية كباحث أكاديمي له العديد من البحوث المنشورة نذكر منها بحث بعنوان (الاغنية العراقية بين التراث والمعاصرة)، مقدم الى المؤتمر العلمي السادس لكلية التربية الموسيقية في جامعة حلوان المقام في القاهرة - جمهورية مصر العربية، للفترة 20/10/2000-18 م، وتم نشره في الصفحة رقم (1556) من المجلد الثاني لوقائع المؤتمر. ومن بحوثه المنشورة ايضا بحث بعنوان (المدرسة العراقية الحديثة لآلة العود)، وتم نشره في مجلة ابحاث اليرموك (سلسلة العلوم الانسانية والاجتماعية)، المجلد (21)، العدد (2)، أربد - الاردن في عام 2005م
